On the prebiotic potential of reduced oxidation state phosphorus: the H-phosphinate-pyruvate system.

چکیده
H-Phosphinic acid and pyruvic acid, both plausible prebiotic chemicals, react selectively in water to build structural complexity including amide bond formation under remarkably mild conditions and oxidative coupling of P(1) compounds to condensed pyrophosphorus compounds.

Rethinking early Earth phosphorus geochemistry.
Phosphorus is a key biologic element, and a prebiotic pathway leading to its incorporation into biomolecules has been difficult to ascertain. Most potentially prebiotic phosphorylation reactions have relied on orthophosphate as the source of phosphorus. It is suggested here that the geochemistry of phosphorus on the early Earth was instead controlled by reduced oxidation state phosphorus compou...
متن کاملElectrophoretic deposition of MnCr2O4 coating for solid oxide fuel cell metallic interconnects
In the present study, Mn - Cr spinel powder was synthesized through a solid state reaction. In the next step, the electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method was used to apply the MnCr2O4 spinel, as an oxidation-resistant layer, on SUS 430 stainless steel in a potential of 300 V/cm. The coated and uncoated samples were then pre-sintered in air at 900 °C for 3 h followed by cyclic oxidation at 800 °...

متن کاملNew synthetic phosphinate analogues of lecithin.
The chemical syntheses of two new, completely nonhydrolyzable phosphinate analogues of lecithin are described. These have the structures ROCH(2)CH(OR)CH(2)CH(2)P(O)(O(-))CH(2)CH(2)N(+)(CH(3))(3) and ROCH(2)CH(OR')CH(2)P(O)(O(-))CH(2)CH(2)CH(2)N(+)(CH(3))(3), where R = C(18)H(37) and R' = C(16)H(33); each is thus isosteric with lecithin on either side of the phosphorus function. The infrared spe...
متن کاملEarth's Phosphides in Levant and insights into the source of Archean prebiotic phosphorus
Natural phosphides--the minerals containing phosphorus in a redox state lower than zero--are common constituents of meteorites but virtually unknown on the Earth. Herein we present the first rich occurrence of iron-nickel phosphides of terrestrial origin. Phosphide-bearing rocks are exposed in three localities in the surroundings of the Dead Sea, Levant: in the northern Negev Desert, Israel and...
